We who must remain go on living just the same
After ten years, we live on. We are the survivors of 9/11. Let us never forget those who did not survive. Let us remember them in our prayers and in our contemplations. If you know someone or of someone who perished on that day, speak their name. If you do not, look up a list of those who fell victim to the murderous band of terrorists. Memorize a name and speak it regularly. Welcome that...

Absence makes the heart...?
Have not heard from some of my friends I normally communicate with on Twitter. It seems oddly funny that I do miss the interaction. Sadly, I don’t believe my friends have taken notice.

Worlds away
Technology makes it possible to have friends on the other side of the country, the other side of the world, that you’ve never met but you feel as if you know them. You share their dilemmas, revel in the tales of their day, and worry about them when you haven’t heard from them in awhile. They’re like your best friend next door but they are as far as the reach to your computer...

Package
Love comes in many packages. Packages brightly wrapped and others plain. The wrapper matters not since the value lies on the inside of the package. And no two packages present themselves in the same way. Accept and appreciate the package because the gift within, love, makes you a richer person. Much love to all my friends.

Thankful
Never in my wildest dreams would I believe I would have a Twitter or Tumblr account. The notion of making online friends sounds even crazier. Yet it happened. And the friends I’ve made became very cherished and important people in my life. I look forward to hearing from them, what is new in their lives, sharing our joys, fears, triumphs, and heartbreaks. These people expanded my world. ...

Brings me joy
If I can do something to make another happy, I won’t hesitate to do it if it is within my means. I’ll lay out money to see the joy it can bring to another. Yet if I need something, I will hesitate buying anything. I need to save in case I need that cash later! I can do without. I do hope my beneficiaries appreciate me and think about me once in awhile. Regardless, I give...

Justice
I arrived late for the hearing. I actually arrived early but as I pulled into the parking lot, my friend called to ask if I could pick-up his niece. So back from where I had just come, had trouble locating the house, then back to the courthouse. As we walked through the metal detectors at the front door, a deputy sheriff told me my friend had just walked upstairs a couple minutes ahead of me. ...

The Webbys
I watched an awards show for internet programming a couple months ago. It left me a bit puzzled because, for the most part, I didn’t know who these people are! Who decides who gets nominated? Who votes on who wins? I cannot make a claim as an internet expert but I’ve seen some pretty popular people on You Tube. For instance, Niga Higa! But I don’t believe he received a...

The heat is on
June gloom has given way to a furnace. Up until yesterday, the weather has been very comfortable. The temperature showed mercy as it rarely rose above 80°. The night brought cool weather, sometimes cold enough to don a jacket. Yesterday, the June gloom disappeared and bright sunlight bathed the area. Today baked! Even now the temperature outside is warm. The wind has started also. High...

I started a new workout routine. This one may be the death of me. I slept well, though. I fell asleep while watching a live show on the internet.

A guitar is silenced
My neighbor next door died in his sleep Thursday morning. In the past, Tony played in bands and still enjoyed playing his guitars. On New Years Eve, at midnight, he would hook up his amp and play, “Auld Lang Syne,” on the balcony. When I brought my guitar home from its stay at Bill’s house, he tuned it for me. He worked hard and was moving kind of slow lately. I saw him a...

Music to my ears
I went to listen to live music last night. Caleb Quaye and the Faculty performed at a local studio. They musicians displayed some awesome talent. Caleb Quaye made his guitar sing. Makes me realize how much I miss listening to music live.

Chef Slim
I’m up early tomorrow to prepare some food for a pot luck tomorrow. The pending retirement of my partner requires my office to chow-down. Only three of us do the job I do in my office. I believe my other partner has retirement on his mind also especially since he is out due to injury right now. We’ve all had our ups and downs but when push came to shove, we always backed each other...

Healthy living
I had to get a blood test today. To get my blood tested required that I fast for 12 hours meaning no food or drink except water. If I don’t eat, I usually get a headache. I also feel like I’m sick when I go without food. I wanted to eat so bad! After the blood draw, I went to eat and ordered up a gang of food. But if you don’t eat for awhile, you fill up quick. Now I just...

Forever points!
Companies promote their products on websites where they offer you perks in exchange for points. Generally, you earn points by partaking in said company’s product. Usually, though, you must collect a tremendous amount of points before you have enough to exchange for anything! Here’s the kicker: You buy the product, go to the website, enter the code build your points, then they...

I will miss her so much
I read a quote somewhere sometime that said, “No matter how bad your day is, when you get home you have a friend.” The quote referred to owning a cat. I’ve thought about this quote often because of how true it is. So many times when feeling down my cat would cheer me up. Born on my front lawn to a mean, stray cat, I expected her and her siblings to run off so they were all...

Return to normalcy
I’ve missed a lot of work since I returned from vacation. It looks as though that trend will continue. I have doctors’ appointments and dentist appointments scheduled. I also have a sick animal that needs me and veterinarians won’t usually plan their business hours around your schedule. I know my supervisors are not happy but, what else is new? So returning to normal is...

Guilty
I heard it twelve times. The court clerk said guilty three of those times to describe the verdicts against three defendants for first degree murder. I witnessed justice. So ends the final chapter of Jonathan’s life, a chapter played out without his presence. Tears flowed as the voice read verdicts lasting a good 20 minutes. Tears of joy do not fully describe them. Sadness mixed in to...

Consideration
My friends take precedence. I longer have family so my friends top my list. I value my job but it does not define me. Work allows me an avenue to live comfortably, a means to an end, but I am not my job nor does my job hold the position of being my driving force in life. I’ve known most of the people I work with for several years now so you would I could consider them friends. In...
